Wasabi Japanese Teppanyaki - Manuka, Canberra

Remember the post on how fun it is eating at Benihana teppanyaki? Well.. this restaurant take 'fun lunch' to a whole new level.....
Being one of my family's favourite at Canberra, we decided to eat Teppanyaki at Wasabi restaurant. You're expect to book the restaurant before dine in.. however being an interstate tourist, we didn't know. They manage to put us into one of the table for a timed 45 mins lunch.

Our table chef start off the day by handing each of us small bowl... 'What for..?' we wonder...

Then he planted eggs onto the side of the grill and................... he started to throw the eggs for our bowl to catch. "Wow.. original fun" I thought.. however he's not done yet! Noone got hurt yet from this stunt.. not yet at least =p
The chef mixed up all the 'liquid chicken' and made a scrambled egg roll from it (sorry no photos :( ).
He then tell us to open our mouth. When I was thinking... "huh?", he threw the egg roll to each of our mouth!!!  Don't worry.. if it missed, he'll just throw you another one.. maybe to land on your hair.. or your clothes, he doesn't care.. its all about fun!

My always favourite teppanyaki fried rice!!! Extra cost for this rice, however it does come with extra 'kicks' other than just a 'fried rice'. He served the fried rice into a full bowl... Then start throwing each bowl to us again...

The goal is so that the bowl he threw will be caught by the bowl we're holding and 'hope' that all the rice transferred over!! This is where it gets veryy.... messy.. rice on hair.. inside clothes.. etc.. ahaha... (Its a flying teppanyaki.. literally) As much fun as it can be, I can vouch that their food waste is on an extremely high level!

For the fried rice it self, I found that he didn't mix the rice enough, so that the sauce is not evenly distributed. Even though, teppanyaki fried rice still as drooling as always.

Here comes the main meat. The $16 lunch set menu comes with an entree, main of either scotch fillet or chicken fillet, second main of either king prawn or fish fillet, a miso soup and rice (fried rice for extra $3).
The beef is veryyy juicy and tasty!! I had a try on the fish as well and I can tell you, all the foods are very well cook and  seasoned.

At the end of cooking, the chef say goodbye to us and left us with a graphical message of.. I love you!

Ahaha.... Wasabi restaurant does take teppanyaki to a whole new level, huh? Flying food...!!!

Canberra Trip (Illawarra region - Canberra)

On our way to Canberra, we pit-stopped at Mc'donalds Albion Rail Park. We specifically stop at maccas to grab their new shaker fries... which is I tell you........ AWESOME!!

3 easy steps to enjoy shaker fries:
1. Put fries in the shaker bag (ONLY SHAKER BAG)
2. Shake... shake... shakee.. shakkeee....!!!
3. Tada.. enjoy :)

Totally sold by the advertisement... Upon our arrival in our serviced apartment, I flipped through the canberra food guide. We stumble on this restaurant which looks fantastic! (from the photos at least) so we give it a try for our dinner.

The Menu.. Expensive.. $26.80 per main?? Notice whichever main you get, the price stay the same? Means they already made a lot of money from them!

Mongolian Eye fillet is our first main. The beef is so tender, however sauce is just plain mongolian sauce.

Pandan Chicken with sweet chili sauce. The chicken is a bit dry for me.. (maybe I'm used to eat Pandan chicken made by mum) and not enough seasoning put into the chicken.

Overall the food is alright... but not value for money. Will definitely choose better place out of the book next time!

Realizing that Madam Woo's food not enough to fill our dinner appetite, we went next door to grab crust Pizza. We bought 2 large pizzas to be eaten at the apartment.. and nothing can go wrong with CRUST PIZZA!

Toppings on display

 Pizza dough ready for oven...

Pisang ijo, or what we call it 'green banana' in english - is a dessert of banana cooked wrapped in a green 'pancakes' and served cold with shaved ice and syrups (see picture below).

It taste alright... too much coconut milk to be honest, but a good supper!

Warung Tekko bring spicy food to a whole new level. Specialize in beef rip 'penyet' (topped with chili paste), their food spicy level goes from 1-5: mild, medium, hot, extra hot, ultra hot. When they say ultra hot.. they mean it........... ultra.

A portion of their specialty 'iga goreng penyet'. Notice the chili "sambal" looks mild and not much in quantity.. however, believe me: you will not be able to finish the chili!

Crispy fried mushroom on the left and friend beef rib on the right.

Their chili paste... I love it!! :)

Singapore trip 2010 - Food!

Singapore... first thing we went there is we go for the carrot cake! Carrot cake is basically an egg and radish deep fried together. Looks like omelete, but taste soo nice! :)
The left side is normal carrot cake, while on the right side the carrot cake is cooked with sweet soy sauce.
Funny thing is that despite the name is carrot cake.. its neither contain carrot.. or a cake!

Newtown food centre!
This on-street food court is famous for its seafood dishes. If you actually go through every single stalls, they all selling the same thing: Seafood, drinks, carrot cakes... Every 3 stalls are basically a repeat, just under different owner and name...
