2010 Food Run - Benihana, Grand Indonesia

Benihana Indonesia is yet another US-based franchise that brought to Jakarta by the same owner of Kiyadon.
The restaurant held the concept of Japanese Teppanyaki with a mix of 'fun-eating'. Every chef here was sent to US for training in Benihana headquarters. What do I mean by 'fun-eating'? While cooking the teppanyaki, the chef is trained to entertain you by jokes and tricks. I don't have any photos for the tricks, because I was too busy enjoying them! Will try to take it next time I go here.

The entree soup
Sort like a miso soup, but taste sooo nice :)
Sauce: Ginger sauce (left) and seafood sauce (right)

Chef skillfully cut off the prawns.
Our Chef on duty.. Kevin focus on preparing our food...

Lobster to be grilled Teppanyaki style

Lobster almost cooked...

Lobster ready to be served and cut off to individual needs.

Sirloin steaks are put on the hot grill ready to be cooked.

Sirloin ready to serve, cook to perfection.

Fast hands preparing the fried rice..

Teppanyaki style fried rice - extra charge
This one is one of the best fried rice I've ever eat! A teppanyaki style fried rice never fails me. Armed with only soy sauce and couple of dressings, their end taste is so mouth watering.

2010 Food Run - Pizza e Birra, Plaza Indonesia Extension

Pizza e Birra located on level 5 Plaza Indonesia newest extension. I've been wanted to try this restaurant, but never have the time too (Can't blame me I live in Sydney =p)
The restaurant itself is decorated with the looks of western. You can find food from onion rings all the way to their main range of food, Pizza.

Glimpse look of the menu - A very creative menu :)

Buffallo chicken wings... I think that was the name? =p
This taste sooooooooooooo good and juicy with a nice hint of spicy taste.

French fries with mince beef and melted cheese (Don't ask me exact name, I always forget!)
It can never go wrong with this kind of food, however please do eat them asap as the chips can get soggy quickly with the moisture from the beef.

Oreo milkshake?

Meatball Pizza with onion ring..

Penne pasta with deep fried calamari

Calamari ring!

Overall food is 9/10, price is very standard middle class restaurant in Jakarta.

Nelayan Seafood Restaurant - Senayan, Jakarta

Nelayan restaurant is one of my family's most favourite family restaurant. The food served here is Chinese-Indonesian food with a touch of seafood theme. As for the occassion.. this time my family gathered families from my mother.

As an entree, we start the ocassion with mie goreng (fried noodle). The mie goreng cooked with various veggies, chicken, and served with cooked quail egg.

One of our main is Sapi lada hitam (beef pepper steak). The beef is juicy, however less tender (maybe because they're using local Indonesian beef).

Then we have Sapo tahu (tofu with XO sauce?) which mixed with mushrooms and veggies.

The main event of the day is the ayam goreng garam (Deep fried salty chicken). They served the chicken wrapped inside aluminum foil and you can see sea salt around the plate. As soon as they put the plate on our table, they light up the salt with fire. We wait, then chicken ready to be consumed after the fire went off.
This chicken taste soo nice and tender :)

For vegetables dish, we have brocolli with mushrom, cooked with XO sauce.

Last but not least, the deep fried gourami fish with butter soy sauce. This fish is extremely addicting!!! Taste so good and goes so well with the sauce. A must try if you visit this restaurant! :)

Also, at the end of all meal, this restaurant always serve dessert free of charge. They always serve 'es buah' (fruit with coconut water) and Indonesian round mochi with sesame seeds (Can't believe I forgot the Indonesian name!!!)
